What is Dream-Grafix?
DG is a community which hosts artworks of different genres and artists with the
object of promoting the artist's works to other artists. Artists as well as
visitors can comment on works featured on DG and vote for their favourite works
Who are the DG
Webmasters and DG Crew?
Admin / webmaster: Ayame
DG Crew: Superman
Artist who created Mushy
Where does DG get the
money to support all this?
Eh... No where really, DG started originally as a school project and has now
become a solid 'hobby' of Ayame's, so she finances everything, one of the many
reasons she's got a student job, but if you wish to support her, please do!
Can I join the DG crew?
The DG Crew members are selected by Ayame and Superman so you will have to have
done something special for DG to get into the DG Crew, but generally no you
can't.
Can I copy your scheme
/ layout / entire site and use it for my own?
No, this site is made by Ayame and all of its contents and design are
copyrighted to Ayame/DG. She will NOT appreciate you stealing her work.
Can you teach me how to
draw?
Ayame will not teach anyone how to code. If you have any questions / problems
regarding coding problems, please check out our forum, there are people who can
help you there.
Can you teach me how to
... ?
Ayame will not teach anyone how to do anything as she basically has no time for
that. If you have any questions / problems regarding coding problems, please
check out our forum, there are people who can help you there.
Do you have any drawing
/ colouring / ... tutorials?
Yes we do, in the tutorials section.
I want a tutorial on...
?
If you have a tutorial request on a tut that is not yet on DG, please visit the
tutorial request board on the DG forum . You can leave yoru request for a
tutorial there. A moderator will look into your request.
Is the code for DG
open source?
No, Ayame worked long and hard on this code, don't steal it!
Who started
Dream-Grafix?
Ayame and Superman
Is DG related to other
companies with a similar name but different spelling?
No we have no relation with them whatsoever. The only DG with artworks is
www.dream-grafix.com and www.dream-grafix.be , this is us.
Can I get hosting on
the DG servers?
Unfortunatly not, but if you need hosting contact
www.ds-hosting.be .
How can I stay
informed about the new things happening around DG such as changes, updates,
etc. ?
There are two ways of doing this: either you check the homepage daily, where
all the updates are mentioned every day or you can sign up for the newsletter
for more info that you won't find out scouting around the site, etc.
Can I change my
nickname?
No you cannot change your nickname, for this reason there can be no two people
with the same nickname on DG.
How can I get
(un)banned from DG?
You can get banned from DG if you have placed a seriously offending comment for
someone's art or if you have ripped off someone else's art and posted it as
yoru own.
You can get unbanned for posting something offending a first time after 2
weeks. If you post something offending again and get banned again you will need
to give the artist in question a serious apology, if the artist accepts you get
unbanned. If it happens again you are permanently banned from DG.
If you got banned for ripping off someone's work you will need to wait three
weeks to get back onto DG. Your art will be taken off and all comments with it.
If it happens again you are permanently banned from DG.
Why doesn't my DG
login work on the forum or vice versa?
The DG forum and site are on two different servers. Because the site is
financed by Ayame herself she couldn't afford a forum of her own so the DG
Forum is stored on a free server. She cannot access the login and password data
of that server, thus you need to create another account on the forum if you
wish to post. Sincerest apologies for this inconvenience.
Artwork
Questions:
Do I need to join to
view art?
To view art you do not need to join, to post comments or art you do.
What adult material is
allowed on DG?
Adult material on DG is allowed as long as it's not offending, explicitly
sexually or too gory. e.g. no hentai is allowed, ecchi is acceptible.
All artworks containing adult material will bear a small warning page
inbetween, just so that DG is ok with all legal obligations. An adult material
mark on your artwork does not mean your art is offending, etc. because then it
simply wouldn't be allowed on DG. This is simply to protect innocent eyes of
children under 13.
Can I use the artworks
displayed on DG for my own site?
No. If you wish to use any artworks displayed on DG you need to ask permission
of the artist. If the artist's email is not visible, mail Ayame with your
question and she will contact the artist in question.
Can I copy these
artworks on DG and say they are mine?
No, this is called ripping off art and is considered stealing. DO NOT rip off
art
Can I use an artwork
on DG as an example for a pose, modify the picture seriously and call it my
own?
You can use other artworks for example if you modify the art enough so that
it's not an exact copy of the original artwork AND if you give due credit to
the original artist
How do I submit an
artwork?
First you need to register and then click the submit art link on the menu.
Where do I report a
ripoff?
There is a special board on the forum to report a ripoff, please head there.
What is considered as
a ripoff?
A ripoff is when you copy someone else's or or take someone else's art and
claim it as your art, even if you modified it somewhat.
I coloured my Manga
artwork on the pc. Is this Manga or CGI?
This is manga still. CGI on DG are artworks that have ben created from already
existing digital material. Remember to give due credit!
I'm not sure what
genre my artwork belongs to.
The genres it can be are 3D, fantasy, manga, CGI, Comic, Realism, Photography
or Sci-Fi art. There are relatively clear genres, except say you ahve made a
sci-fi artwork in 3D, that's considered Sci-Fi as a lot of SCi-Fi works are 3D
works, which makes Sci-Fi kind of a sub section of 3D. The others are
reasonably clear I believe, it all depends on the style the artwork is drawn
in.
I'm not sure what
series my artwork belongs to.
- If your art was inspired be a certain existing series, whether anime series,
game or a real life person like a singer or an actor/actress then it belongs to
that series. So an artwork featuring Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin, belongs to the
Rurouni Kenshin series and shoul dbe submitted under that. Even if you didn't
use any visual aids to create the artwork, meaning you didn't use an already
existing image of the character, the character still belongs to that series,
only drawn in your style ^_^
- If your art was not inspired by any existing series or it's inspired by a
specific artwork or you cannot remember the name of the series or the artwork,
it's seen as miscellaneous art. If you remember the name of the artwork /
artist your work was inspired on, YOU MUST GIVE DUE CREDIT. If someone else
rekognises the artwork that inspired your art and has valuable proof of it,
Dream-Grafix will contact you with a mail first concerning the artwork. IF you
do not reply within 2 weeks of that mail, your art will be considered a rip off
and will be removed from Dream-Grafix. So safest is that if your art was
inspired by someone else's, but you cannot remember, please mention it in your
method or reasons for making, so that if someone else remembers it's as an aid
in giving proper credit, and your art will not be seen as a rip off.
- Finally is your art wasn't inspired on anyone else's work or an existing
series, it is original art. Your artwork can be inspired by nature or songs or
anything else as long as it's not one of the things mentioned about. Artworks
created using a special drawing dummy as a visual aid are still considered as
original art, you cannot expect of every artist to perfectly understand how the
anatomy of a body works ^_^ An exception to this rule is a portrait, portaits
are considered as a series called 'portaits' and should be submitted under that
series.
My artwork is a 3D
artwork with a setting in space, is this 3D or Sci-Fi?
As illustrated in the genres question, this is Sci-Fi art.
Why do I need to give
my artwork a title?
Because this makes it easier to refer to certain other artworks in comments
instead of needing to give a full description of the artwork.
Can I use the same
title twice?
You can in 2 different genres, not in the same genre.
Can I post art in
different genres?
Sure! One of the objects of having so many genres on here is making artists
interested in trying otu new things!
Can I buy the original
artworks online?
No, not yet anyway. Maybe in the future this will be available.
What can happen to my
artwork if I submit it here?
Your artwork will be posted on the site of course and it can be used in any
kind of advertisement material for DG (banners etc.) DG only advertises with
artworks from DG, thus you give us permission to do this. DG will NOT give your
art to a third party for commercial or any other use, your art stays here on
the / related to site.
Does DG offer
protection against ripoffs?
We offer watermark protection if you wish (example here) and right click
disable on the artwork pages. If you have suggestions on improving the ripoff
protection, please notify Ayame.
Are there any rules to
submit artwork?
Yes:
- your artwork must be relevant to one of the genres featured on DG
- it cannot exceed a width of 750 pixels, height is not important
- filesize has to be kept below 100 kB
- maximum resolution of 75 dpi
- the file MUST be a .jpeg or .jpg or it will be rejected by the server
- Nudity is allowed to a certain degree. Each artwork that contains certain
forms of nudity will be looked upon seperately. If the artwork contains
acceptible forms of nudity, a simple warning will be placed on the picture. No
hentai / offending pics will be approved though.
- Gore is allowed to a certain degree. Each artwork will be evaluated
seperatly. If the artwork contains acceptible forms of gore, a simple warning
will be placed on the picture.
Why doesn't my art
show up right away?
Every art needs to be checked if it fits all the artwork rules before it is put
up on the site. If it passes, it will be put up. As this is done by a human and
not a computer this usually takes about a day.
Can I edit or remove
an artwork?
No artwork can be edited or removed once submitted. If for some reason you do
wish to remove it, please mail Ayame about it.
Where do the artworks
that I submit but aren't selected end up?
On Ayame's Harddrive, to keep a record of all other artworks submitted. No
where else.
What can I do when my
art has been stolen?
You can report a rip off in the specially assigned section in the forum. People
there (and of coruse DG) will help you out as much as they can.

Contest
Questions:
What are the quota to
join a contest?
Make an artwork in the relevant style and abiding the rules put up by the
contest.
What are these monthly
contests?
Monthly contests are contests that are never really announced. These involve
the voting system. Whichever artwork, no matter hwo logn it has been on DG,
gets the most votes for that month in that genre wins the monthly contest award
of that genre.
How do I subscribe for
a contest?
Simply enter an artwork abiding the rules of that particular contest and
instead of selecting a genre, select contest artwork.
How does my artwork
get selected for pic of the day?
This happens randomly by the site itself so your art has as much chance as the
next to appear.
How can I get awards?
Awards are always the choice of the people who visit DG and vote for your art.
So if people like your work, you will win awards!
Do I get some kind of
proof to put on my site/portfolio when I have won an award?

Voting
Questions:
How does the voting
system work? (Why, how + rules)
If you like an artwrok you can give it a score of 1 - 5 by voting for it. You
can do this for every artwork featured on DG. At the end of the month, the
artworks that got the highest score out of his votes in every genre each win
the award of the month for that section in that month. Contest voting is
different, contest vote scores are summarised at the end of the contest and
then the winner is revealed.
You can only vote once for every artwork every month, or once for every artwork
in a contest.
Is it ok if I ask all
my friends to vote for me?
No this is cheating. If people like your art they will vote for it. You may ask
them to go view your art.
How can I get more
pageviews / votes?
DG tries to give equal promotion to everyone on DG, but it's normal that people
who submit art frequently show up more in the updates, thus have a better
chance of their art being viewed. By submitting art you increase your chances
of getting votes.
Comments
Questions:
What do I need to do
to be able to comment?
Register with DG. You do not need to submit art to be able to comment,
registering subsides.
What can / can't i say
in a comment?
You cannot purposly offend / insult the artist or other people in a comment.
This doesn't mean you can't say what you don't like about a picture, just try
making it a constructive critique instead of an insult. If you don't like a
certain colour someone used, tell them you believe a different colour would
have been better for whatever reasons, but don't say their colourscheme stinks.
Insulting artists / other people on DG resides in penalty of banning.
Can I edit / delete a
comment?
No comments can be edited / deleted after they have been added.
